Come Visit Valley - Shadowing Program

Valley Lutheran High School offers potential students an opportunity to visit the campus during a regularly scheduled school day by "shadowing" a currently enrolled student. You will attend a full day of school with the host, attending classes and chapel. Teachers and administrators are available to answer questions. click here for more information.

Learn More About Valley: Valley Preview Days

Each year, Valley Lutheran High School holds three "Valley Preview Days". Designed especially for 7th and 8th grade students and parents, this is an opportunity to learn more about our school and the programs we offer, and go for a tour of our facilities.

We ask that you RSVP for preview days by calling the front office at 602-230-1600, ext. 100. Each of the events begins at 1:00 pm.

Preview days for the 2011-2012 school year are scheduled for the following dates:

October 2, 2011
November 6, 2011
March 25, 2012

Application Procedures

Are you interested in applying? The following is a summary of our application procedure:

  • Complete the Application for Admission.
  • Complete the required essays for student and parent (see questions on page 2 of application form).
  • Obtain two letters of recommendation from principal and/or teacher  (Click here to view the recommendation form).
  • Obtain a copy of your birth certificate and immunization record.
  • Return the Application for Admission.  The following should be included along with the application:
              - Your non-refundable $50 application fee
              - Two letters of recommendation
              - Student & parent essays
              - Copy of school records (if official records have not yet been sent)         
  • An interview will be scheduled with the student(s) and at least one
    parent, before or shortly following the receipt of the application.
  • Notice of official acceptance will be made by letter, following the interview.  A financial contract is due along with a non-refundable new student building fee of $300, payable upon acceptance.
  • Following acceptance, students will be asked to complete a health record, including immunization records and a physical examination by a doctor.  At this time, parents will receive other necessary enrollment forms.
  • A placement exam is required of all incoming freshman. Testing dates for 2012 are March 31, April 28, and May 12, from 8:30-12:30.  Please call the school office to reserve your spot.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there an entrance exam?
VLHS does not require an entrance exam.  A freshman placement test is given to determine math and English class placement. Placement for transfer students is based on the transcript from the previous school.

How are students evaluated for admission to VLHS?
Students are admitted based on:

  • Transcript evaluation
  • Letters of recommendation
  • Interview
  • Application essay

Does Valley Lutheran High School accept transfer students?
Valley Lutheran High School does accept transfer students.  An interview is generally required for admission as a transfer. Please call the school office for more information.

Do I have to be Lutheran to attend Valley Lutheran?
No.  Approximately 55% of the students at Valley Lutheran High School are Lutheran.
