Many Valley students associate Brian Porter with athletics and fitness because of Advanced PE and Weightlifting, as well as his roles of Football Coach and Softball Coach. But another important part of his week is teaching Pre-Algebra, Algebra, and World History.
One freshman student wrote this about Mr. Porter, “Great teacher! He always lets me bring my grade up when it is low. His class is fun because we get to learn new things in every class. I wish I had math class every day and I hope to have him again my sophomore year.”
This is his third year on the Valley Lutheran staff. Previously he spent four years in the Apache Junction School District, six years in Polk County Florida, two years in Scottsdale, and three years in Cave Creek. His BA in Education is from ASU.
Mr. Porter’s wife, Ellen, is a teacher at Christ Lutheran in Phoenix. Their two children, Abby and Derek, are both currently Valley students. He comments this way about his interests, “I love to BBQ (smoke the meat), I love to cut wood and enjoy my outdoor fireplace , and I love Michigan and ASU football.”
